Case Study – Janice & Phil

Janice & Phil came to our office 3 years ago. They had commenced trading in business 5 years prior and they had been trading as a Partnership. They had been through an initial period of building their business and over the prior couple of years had been generating steadily growing profits. These profits were being reinvested in the business to grow working capital. By rolling their business into a company structure, with a trust owning the shares, we were able to save them tens of thousands of dollars in tax each year by allowing the profits which were being reinvested into the business to be taxed at the lower company tax rate rather than their own individual higher tax rates.
